"I don't have time for that" is what I hear people say when I mention self-care.
And...to be honest, it's hard for me to make it a priority. It's hard for me to feel like it's okay to take time for myself. Because I usually think of all the things I need to do, and self-care doesn't feel like the priority. Does that happen to you too?
Jessica has helped me stop and focus on the importance of self-care. It's something that can take as little as a few minutes. I don't know why I think it will always take a lot of time and money, no wonder I talk myself out of it. When she said, "Check in early, check in often" something clicked for me. I think of it often and it helps me stop and notice when I need to take a moment for myself. Jessica's ideas have helped me find even little things to do that don't take a lot of time that have helped me prioritize my own self-care.
She talks to us today about:
-Just Start Noticing Where You Hold Stress
-What it means to "Check in early and often"
-How does stress impact the brain and body?
-Take a deep breath
-Be kind to your brain and body
-Set boundaries
Her motto is, “The communities we serve deserve our best effort and we can only give our best when we take care of ourselves.”
